A Recipe for Disaster

So, while going through some old boxes today I came across "The Recipe Book" that I made for my mom when I was in grade school. I've decided to take it with me, and try the recipes in the book. I know this will end badly, but it's going to be a hoot for sure.

Here's the list of recipes in the book:

Pizza Casserole
Broccoli & Rice
Sparkling Harvest Cider
Spice Apple Cake
Banana Bread
Rice Krispie Treats
Chocolate Chip Pie
Butterscotch Apple Dip
Choco-Coconut Layer Bars

Manjeebus! With all those desserts it's no wonder I was a bit of a pudge when I was younger. You're all invited over to help me devour these concoctions once I whip them up.

Packing, Party of One

What up, Internutties?

Well, the lease is ready for the new apartment. I'm finally heading out of Springfield... again. This time for goodsies. It looks like I'll be heading out Friday to sign the lease, and then moving in this weekend. Next week I'll be taking the time to get settled, set up internet and power, and get acclimated to the neighborhood. As well as send out resumes and probably pick up books for school. Orientation for school is on Wednesday the 29th, and classes begin on October 4th. I'm excited and terrified all at the same time. It has created for quite the uncomfortable condition for my stomach. Imagine it being filled with a stick of mentos and a two-liter of coke. Yeah. OK GO all over the place.

As I mentioned I'm hoping to have internet set up next week. Hopefully, I won't be aware from everyone for too long.

If anything else comes to mind I'll keep you posted. As for now it's back to more packing!

P.S. I ate like a slob today. Mountain Dew & Cool Ranch Doritos for breakfast, and Beef Lo Mein for lunch. Ugh! I just know my body hates me today.

P.P.S. I'll leave you with this Halo-ish Dork Tower strip

Dear Dreams,

I was in the audience of Attack of the Show, and Kevin Pereira came out along with Olivia Munn. They were settling some debate by having a contest of who can sink the most buckets. There were two arcade basketball machines out, and there was a lot of trash-talking before the contest began. I remember Olivia questioning Kevin's sexuality and claiming he was weak. At that point Kevin began flexing, and even took off his shirt and ran around to the audience and had people feel his biceps.
"It was quite evident that Kevin was stoned, but his out-going energetic performance was spot on as usual."
After the show, Kevin and I were hanging out in what looked like an old construction zone, and I was sitting on top of a giant drainpipe, and he was walking around the bottom of it. I kept questioning him about what he wanted in life, if he had attained it, and what is the point of it all. Very strange. After that he got very somber and self-reflective.

Then I woke up.

Blake Detherage's Day Off

Today's Day Off started just like any other one....

*wavy lines and wash out*

I pretended to be sick. I had come down with Oh... I don't know, let's say schoolislame-itis, and was coughing and wheezing. My mom came to take my temperature. As she stepped away I put the thermometer against the eco-friendly compact florescent light bulb. They aren't nearly as hot as filament bulbs, but it still did the trick; just barely. Then when she went to check my palms I licked them while hacking up a viscous lung biscuit to give them that authentic clammy fever feel. She was hooked. She called into the school, and off to work she went.

The day is mine!

*fade to now*

I just had the traditional day off breakfast of eggs over easy and toast along with a cup of coffee, juice, water, and fruit while sitting in my underwear. Every time I eat eggs over easy with hot sauce I think of Dexter. While eating I used my eyes to take in some music videos ala Pitchfork. I took in about three of them, and they are as follows.

Ted Leo & The Pharmacists - Bottled in Cork
Surfer Blood - Floating Vibes
Titus Andronicus - A More Perfect Union

TL&P - BiC...
Simply amazing. I've loved Ted Leo ever since I was first exposed to him in Hearts of Oak. And like a fine cheese he just gets better with age. Not only is his music still fun and rockin', but his video has dragged in guests with names like Paul F. Thompkins, John Hodgman, and Julie Klausner. The video also features a theatrical parody of Green Day's American Idiot.

SB - FV...
When I watch this all that comes to mind is Anchorman. Good or bad, it's the truth. It's a fun video, and the music is good too. I'm no fancy schmancy music critter or anything, but that there is music I could skip to. The video is filtered through an old VHS cassette that has been recorded over more times than the tape I used to record old episodes of COPS. It displays a parody collection of vintage vignettes from the VHS era in front of a green screen... or probably a blue screen. If they want to keep it real, that is.

TA - AMPU...
This song should be the anthem for Narnia. Not only do first impressions of this video make me think of that time I transported through that damned wardrobe, but the frontman resembles Mr. Tummus. Seriously, where are we on nominating this as Narnia's anthem?

Now let's look at today's docket...

Dancing Mself Clean

So, recently my friend Chris noticed how an old photo of mine from a party years ago resembles the album cover of LCD Soundsystem's new album, "This Is Happening". So, after seeing the resemblance myself I photoshop'd a mock album cover.

The State of Dr. Eams

So, this weekend has been filled with a couple fun and quirky dreams.

Dream 1:

The first one involved me, and my friends Nate and Megan. It's probably no surprise that they were involved because that night, after many drinks downtown we retired to my friend Chris' house, and they had butt two sofas together to make a big sofa nest. Nate and Megan slept on one, and I slept right next to them on the other and all night we squawked for food like baby birds until Brad brought us some burritos. The burritos before sleeping and after drinking are probably what account for the sheer strangeness of this dream.

Okay, now that I've set up the clip allow me to show it to you.

... Oh. We don't have the clip? Well... hmmm.... Do we have any sort of visual aid at all? No? Hmmm....

Well, laddies and gentle mends, I suppose I'll just have to tell you about it, and we'll all hope that Davey the Intern still has a job after the show. Ah-heh heh.

*AHEM*

It was late, and the three of us came into someone's garage where two beds awaited us for sleeping. Apparently, the garage belonged to Bill and Virginia Corbett, and my friend Austin had told me that I could crash there and then special guest on an episode of Rifftrax. However, Nate and Megan happened to be in town so we went out drinking, and then I told them that they could stay with me at Bill and Virginia's and be guests on an episode of Rifftrax with me. Now, this is completely off to me, because I'm not one to just impose upon other like that. Especially, others that I don't know. However, in this dream I did.

So, we all stumble into their garage, and sleep. Then in the morning, Austin walks in with Bill and Virginia and they see us sleeping. He wakes me up, and asks what the hell am I doing? I tried to explain myself, but then I woke up. Upon waking up, Austin's younger brother, Chris, was standing beside me in his underwear. Such strange dream of in and out of mind coincidences.

Dream 2:

So, later on in the day I took a short nap before work. Which I've been doing a lot of lately, and I'm quite uncertain how I feel about it. I think I need to stop. Anyway, this is how this dream went.

WHAT?!? We don't have a clip for this one either? Where's Davey? Round him up and can his ass! I guess I'll just have to tell you about this one as well.

*AHEM*

So, my mom has a hummingbird feeder in the backyard, and all year she's only seen a couple of hummingbirds. In the dream, my mom couldn't understand why the feeder had disappeared. Well, at the moment that she was telling me all of this, out of the corner of my eye I saw a hummingbird take the feeder off of it's hook, and then fly around the house, pick a couple of flowers, put them in the feeder, and then fly the feeder back and hang it up. Like the bird had finished and wanted to show appreciation by displaying these lovely flowers in the feeder.

Then I woke up.

Those were my dreams this weekend. Lately, I've been having a lot of dreams, and remembering them pretty well too. I don't know why or what is happening, but I like it. I'll keep you posted if I come across any more.

Thank you and good night.

I Like It Very Much!

I've been enjoying making these silly photoshop'd DVD menu wallpapers. I'll get back into something a bit more serious soon. I promise me.

In the meantime...

I recently made a little DVD menu wallpaper for a DVD that I'm going to send to a friend of mine.

HERE IT IS!!!

To get a better idea of how this menu looks and feels play the music that I have looping for it.

Blasted Beats From The Past

Bonus!

  • My 1st concert I ever saw was Jethro Tull

Tell me about your musical childhood.

A Little Bit Less Is All I Need

So, continuing in the fashion of over-working my heart I put on A Life Less Ordinary while eating some lunch, and waiting for my shorts to dry so I can workout and go for a run. Well, I ended up getting sucked in, and before I knew it I had finished the entire movie whilst sitting on my uncomfortable computer chair. Speaking of which, I should probably hit the head.

...Un momento, por favor...

I've never seen this flick, but always wanted to. Great cast all around, great performances (including Diaz, which I believe has never looked this good since The Mask), directed by Danny Boyle, and music by Beck? How can you go wrong? Well, apparently, for cinephiles and dreamers like myself you can't. So, if you're in a rut, and you need an injection of amusement and adventure this flick will jump start your heart and brighten those eyes back to the bigger-than-life size they should be.

Here's a small list of more romantic dreamer movies...

Brazil, True Romance, Raising Arizona, Being John Malkovich, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Brothers Bloom, Addicted to Love, French Kiss

Dream on, dreamers.

Here's Something I Forgot To Do...

Make a post. *insert snickers here*

DJ iPod threw this song at me on my drive home today, and it just melted my soul and massaged my heart. Hot Chip is usually known for it's more dancey stuff, but those folks got soul too.
