Nobody's Watching is back with yet another video in their long line of internet promotion. This time they are praising one of the best shows on television today, next to 12 oz. Mouse, Lost.
This video makes me think about how excited I get for Lost. Then I question whether or not I'm a loser for a moment, but then I see the special appearance from a Lost cast member and get all better then.
I find it interesting that you and I differ regarding our opinion on LOST.
I started watching the show with the first pilot back in oh-four ('04). The first two seasons were great, but (as I discussed with Bob & Dude) the show became painfully formulaic in the final episodes of season 2. Twenty minutes of backstory, twenty minutes of minor plot advancement, end on a cliffhanger and you've got yourself a LOST episode.
At this point, I basically don't care about any of the characters' backstories. I don't care that Sawyer had a drink with Jack's dad in the bar in Sydney before he died. There's FAR too much cool stuff going on on the island to waste time figuring out that Kate is a kleptomaniac or whatever.
LOST is now a self-sustaining juggernaut. They will keep drawing out the "mystery of the island" until ratings start to dip, then they'll end the show with a hastily scripted ending that neatly (or not) wraps up the entire show. And the kids on the internet forums will go nuts over whatever plotlines are left unresolved. Just my reaction, of course. I'll keep watching until it gets retarded, but I don't have high hopes for LOST this season.
I must admit that my enthusiasm for Lost has dwindled this season. Especially after recently watching J.J. Abrams MI:3 (I put a bomb in your head!). I do agree that the more interesting aspects of the show, i.e. the mysteries of the island are glazed over to by melodramatic backstories that only add a bit of dramatic push to the decisions they are making now.
I few things have kept me watching.
1. I know that when J.J. Abrams approached NBC about Lost that he laid out a five season series. I can only hope that the plan is to still run a five season series that is wrapped up nicely in the end with only a few strings left dangling.
2. Now, that there are like, oh i don't know 5 or 6 groups it's hard to stay current on what each group is doing so the episodes have a tendency to revolve around one or two groups actions each episode. Usually the groups I don't care about. So, I watch in anticipation of what Locke will do, and what the hell is up with Desmond. Oh, and what about Hurley's mysterious backstory, or the fact that Libby is everywhere? And who can forget the mainland search team that found the signal. What up with that? Ok, so it's old questions like that that keep me watching.
Did I say a few things, I guess it's just a couple of things. Personally, right now I'm more interested in Heroes and Battlestar Galactica than Lost. By the way, I'm on episode s02e09. The second season is bit more melodramatic than the first. What up with that? Still good though.
Well, that's it for my ramble. Why aren't you watching Farscape?

Wait, so you're still on season 2 with LOST? Or were you referring to BSG?
Season 2 of BSG. Sorry if that came out confusing I think I was drinking when I typed it.
