Dane Cook Is 'Working' On His Film Career

Ok, gang today I bring you the trailer for Dane Cook's new film, that he's starring in, called Employee Of The Month. It also co-stars Dax Shepard and Jessica Simpson. I love hyper-energetic Dane Cook, but this film stinks of suck. Can anyone else smell it?

According to Dane Cook's website he has a new "comedy special" called Vicious Circle airing on HBO on September 4th. Here's what Dane has to say about it.
"This September 4th, on HBO, my debut comedy event VICIOUS CIRCLE airs. HBO didn't want to call it a special because this thing is unlike anything I or HBO has ever done. 90 minutes in front of 18,000 comedy fans @ the Boston Garden in the round. It is an event and it is going to blow you the fuck away. 90% of the material is new with a few surprises thrown in that no one has ever seen me do live! I am truly in awe by how this looks and the flow of my performance. In one night I stepped into the performance that I always strived for. Top of my game or the game in general and telling the world I'm not trying to leave a mark in comedy I want to leave a fucking gash. A few of my comedian friends have seen it and just tell me "get ready -- it's all over."
P.S. Dane Cook also has a cameo in the upcoming Transformers movie.

Sleeping Through It

Where the hell has my head been? I almost let this movie slip by me. I didn't hear about until last week. *slaps myself* What movie? Oh why Michel Gondry's new film, The Science of Sleep, of course. Here's the trailer, gang. I hope our local "art" theater gets a print of it soon. This weekend they're getting a print of A Scanner Darkly which I will be promptly attending on Friday. W00t! Then Clerks II on Saturday! Oh yeah! Movie Madness here! Enjoy the trailer, won't you?

People "R" Stupid

This video makes me laugh and cry. Last night while having a few drinks over at a friend's house, Bryan got the bright idea of going up to the park and trying to chug a whole beer on a merry-go-round while the others spin it around. After hearing that three cops were in town we decided not to go through with it.

Scientists Recreate Deja Vu

BBC reports that the Leeds Memory Group, through the help of hypnosis, are able to recreate the sensations of deja vu. Deja vu is caused when the brain accidently refers to an object or instance as familiar. LMG is using hypnotic suggestion to make objects seem familiar to patients even though they have never seen them before.

They are essentially reverse-engineering deja vu to discover what causes it. It is reported that in some cases deja vu can be so distressing it can lead to depression. I myself have never found my instances of deja vu to take me down that dark road.

Kevin Smith Throws Fresh Tomatoes

Kevin Smith posted a comment on a Clerks II thread in a Rotten Tomatoes Forum. His comment was a reply to a user who started the thread. The user, boxofficemojo, claimed that Clerks II was a flop, and then went on to spout non-sense to back up his claim. Smith, ThatKevinSmith (post #15), rebuttled with how his sources aren't credible, and even wrong. Smith continues with how Clerks II was actually a success, although not a box-office topper like other movies that weekend.

It's kind of like Jay & Silent Bob striking back at all those internet fucks, eh? Kudos to Smith for standing up for what he believes in and presenting a good counter-argument to all those whiny critics out there.

Heavy Rain Falls On Weary Gamers

ATTENTION:
This is for all those gamers out there that think the current "shiny" slump that next-gen games are in will never end, and for those out there that think games can't appeal to you emotionally like films or music can.

David Cage
, creator of the innovative story-telling title Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy), brings his new emotionally-charged vision, Heavy Rain, to the PS3 with ports for 360 and PC. There isn't much known about what his new title will be about, but it will involve new gameplay mechanics and won't feature any sci-fi elements like Fahrenheit did. The game is slated for a Q3 2008 release. Shown below is a tech demo of what Cage and Quantic Dream, his development company, have been working on. The demo was featured at E3 2K6, and brought in quite a crowd. This demo was written for the PS3, and is rendered live on PS3 hardware. It also only took the team three months to create. Quantic Dream promises more quality animation and improved characters for the final launch of the game.

Cage was also interviewed by Edge this month. They discussed his thoughts on the future of next-gen games. Read More...

Zombies Don't Dance

A zombie dance party was arrested in downtown Minneapolis over the weekend. The party consisted of five adults, and one minor. They were arrested for carrying bags with sticks coming out of them which the police thought were "weapons of mass destruction". In fact, they were backpacks with radios in them so that their ghoulish beats could be heard by everyone around them. Police stated they could be facing charges of disorderly conduct. When was the last time you saw an orderly zombie? So, kids, just remember that zombies aren't cool, especially dancing zombies.

Optimus Cullen

If any of you watched the Comic Con 2K6 footage on G4 you already know by now. If you didn't see it, allow me to be the first to tell you that yes, the rumors are true, and Peter Cullen, the original voice of Optimus Prime, will be voicing the 32-foot Autobot leader in Michael Bay's new film. Transformers' producer, Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, confirms it.

First They're Sour...

I don't know if anyone has seen the Sour Patch Kids' commercials yet, but if you haven't you're in for a treat. (Get it? Treat? Candy. You know you love it.) My lovely girlfriend, Alana, told me about this one and I laughed about it for probably 20 minutes? It was probably 20 minutes wasn't it, Alana? Maybe longer. Anywho, here it is. Enjoy!

Commercials can be fun.

P.S. There's also another SPK commercial with a kid getting pelted with eggs by a Sour Patch Kid. However, the quality of it on YouTube was less than sweet. If you happen to catch it on TV, you'll love it.

Somebody's Watching Nobody's Watching

According to Variety, in a strange turn of a events NBC has decided to sign on for six episodes of the 2005 rejected pilot Nobody's Watching, which was featured here on E204 not too long ago.

The show's creators, Bill Lawrence, Neil Goldman and Garrett Donovan, plan on releasing a series of internet viral videos starring the show's cast. They expect to have them online come September. Speaking of the show's cast, NBC is currently in talks to bring back the stars of the pilot, Paul Campbell and Tarran Killam.

NBC also plans on releasing a webpage for fans of the original pilot when the show airs. Fans will be able to throw in their two cents on what they liked and disliked from the changes of the original pilot.

Bill Lawrence is quoted as saying, "If network TV doesn't embrace the Internet as both a place to launch and test shows but also as a place where shows can live, they're going to fall further and further behind."

I think that's a great quote. Think about how shows have been revived in recent years. This whole movement, transferring tv shows to a different medium and watching them flourish before bringing them back to network TV, all started with Family Guy. Now, Futurama is coming back, and then, of course, there's Nobody's Watching.

Could you imagine logging on to NBC, ABC, CBS, FOX, or any other networks' website and viewing pilots of shows, and leaving feedback? The world would be their test audience, and only the best shows would be put on the air. Hmmm? Huh? You think?

"I'm A Pumpkin. Hello."

Blame Society Productions has a humorous dark introspective look at the pumpkin. Life is good for a pumpkin, until Halloweenie comes around.

Oh, and Au$10, this one is for you; for all the times you harvested pumpkins when you were younger. Did you ever stop to think about it? Really stop to really think about really it?

Riff It! Riff It Good!

Mystery Science Theater 3000's (MST3K) Michael J. Nelson is back at it with his new project, RiffTrax. Nelson isn't just riffing on old B-Movies this time around though. He's tackling requests from you and or me.

Here's the skinny, Nelson records a .mp3 commentary track of a film. You download it for $1.99. Then you sync it up with the actual film and enjoy the hijinks of MST3K with a familiar friend. Awwww.

Mike's first RiffTrax is for the Patrick Swayze classic, Roadhouse.

It sounds like Nelson was inspired by his recent gigs at Legend Films wherein he added commentary tracks to restored sci-fi and horror films. I got a copy of Legend Film's restored Ed Wood classic Plan 9 From Outer Space. I haven't listened to all of Mike's track yet, but from what I've heard it's pretty good. It isn't as fast paced as the MST3K tracks, but that's only because there is one guy riffing and not three.

If anyone checks out RiffTrax (Greg, I'm looking in your direction) tell me how it goes.

Who Loves Them Some Doki Doki Panic?

Is that Super Mario Bros. 2? Yeah it is. What is that next to it? Doki Doki Panic? What the hell is Doki Doki Panic? Apparently Doki Doki Panic is the U.S. version of Super Mario Bros. 2.. According to an article on About.com Nintendo thought that their version of SMB2 was too hard for Western gamers. It seems that they didn't make many changes in DDP to "westernize" it as SMB2. It appears they redrew sprites. That's about it. There were four different characters in DDP, and each one had his/her own abilities. So, all of you Western gamers that enjoy Super Mario Bros. 2 really enjoy Doki Doki Panic.

Here's something to chew on. Think about all the main staples of Mario characters that have come from DDP, Shy Guy and Birdie for example. Now, are they instituted in modern Japanese versions of Mario games or only Western versions? Does Nintendo of Japan look back at the SMB2/DDP situation and laugh at us? Hmmmm? Why Shigeru Miyamoto? Whyyyyy?

World Jump Day'll Make Ya Jump! Jump!

Tomorrow is World Jump Day!

Ok, here's the deal, if enough people , on one side of the hemisphere, jump at the same time then hypothetically we could shift the orbit of Earth. No? Hell, goofier things have happened. Scientists claim that if are able to move this spinning lifeball then we could very well improve climate conditions and possibly reduce global warming.

Check out their website, select your timezone, and find out what time it is you should jump. I, being in the Central Time zone, have to jump at 5:39:13 tomorrow morning. You better believe that I'll be out there for a jump!

Where My Dogs At?

If you haven't noticed already the blog has changed a bit. What? It has? Yeah... it has. We use to have two blogs; Error 204 & Slutty Puppies Game Blog. Well, I am tired of making dopple posts on both sites so I took the initiative, and after discussing a merger with Hauz and Llama, have decided to combine the two. There will no longer be any new posts at Slutty Puppies. Instead, all game info that we deem worthy (and if we have time to post about it) will be posted here. I'm kickstarting this new trend with two nuggets of gaming goodness; Where Is My Mind? and GoldenEye: The Game: The Movie. I would like those that don't game or aren't hep to the gaming culture to know that we will do our best to make you feel welcome. Don't shy us away. We're all freaks when you think about it.

Now if you don't mind it is time for me to put the Slutty Puppies Game Blog to sleep...

Where Is My Mind?

The gang over at Rooster Teeth has created a six episode Red Vs Blue spinoff entitled Out of Mind. The series focuses around Tex, and occurs between season four and season five of RvB. None of the other RvB regulars are featured.

For those of you who aren't aware of what Red Vs Blue is allow me to elaborate. Red Vs Blue or RvB to fans is a machina web series featuring the games of the Halo franchise. The show focuses around two camps, a blue camp and a red camp, and their tragically humorous interactions with each other. Rooster Teeth has just wrapped it's fourth season of RvB and is about to begin it's fifth. All their episodes are free for download at their site.

However, Out of Mind, is only available for free download to anyone with an Xbox 360 via Xbox Live. I have good news though. I've found a copy of it via YouTube, and am proud to present the first of six installments of what I hope to be an entertaining and illuminating mini-series.

Enjoy, won't you?

GoldenEye: The Game: The Movie

Ok, so there already is a GoldenEye movie, but this movie is based off the game. This is also probably the most accurate depiction of a video game on film that I have ever seen. You true GoldenEye fans out there will know exactly what I mean when you see the enemies running on the balcony.

Props to Hauz for finding this.
And props to StumbleUpon for leading Hauz to it.
